The nominations for the 87th Academy Awards have been announced, with Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel leading the way with nine nominations each.
The major talking point, other than the Academy official who misread a nominee's name as "Dick Poop", was the fact that The Lego Movie was snubbed in the best animated feature film category.
Nominated instead were Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.
The Lego Movie, the highest grossing film at cinemas in the UK in 2014, did receive a nomination for best original song for Everything Is Awesome, but that wasn't enough for some die-hard Lego fans:
But by far the best response to the apparent snub came from the co-director of the film, Phil Lord, who tweeted this:
