Meghan Markle has written a children’s book titled The Bench that centres on the special relationship between a father and son as seen through the mother’s eyes.

The book is said to be inspired by her own husband, Prince Harry and her son, Archie, according to the publishers, Random House Children’s Books.

The press release describes The Bench as a story that “touchingly captures the evolving and expanding relationship between fathers and sons and reminds us of the many ways that love can take shape and be expressed in a modern family”.

“Evoking a deep sense of warmth, connection, and compassion, The Bench gives readers a window into shared and enduring moments between a diverse group of fathers and sons - moments of peace and reflection, trust and belief, discovery and learning, and lasting comfort.”

In a statement, Meghan said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born.”

“That poem became this story.”

She added: “My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

The illustrations in the book are by Caldecott-winning and best-selling artist Christian Robinson.

The book will be released on 8 June 2021, and the Duchess of Sussex has also narrated the audiobook version of the story, which will be released in the US by Listening Library, and in the UK by Penguin Random House UK Audio.

Already, there is plenty of reaction on social media to this news.

Some fans plan on buying the book even if they are not the target audience.

Though there were some that were not too happy about the announcement.

But others were supportive of her latest venture, showing that they have already pre-ordered Meghan’s book.

Some of her fans were trolling at the fact that this move would cause anger haters.

And of course, Piers Morgan wasn’t happy. But we all knew that didn’t we?
