Kylie Jenner has been accused of trying to “profit off a pandemic” by releasing her own brand of hand sanitiser.

Kylie Skin sanitiser is packaged in a matte pink bottle and costs $7 (£5).

According to her Instagram launch, it is:

“80 per cent alcohol, fast drying and formulated with glycerin to prevent dryness.”

An accompanying photo of a face mask (which is also on sale) leaves no doubt that the sanitiser is intended to be used to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

Not everyone was thrilled with the product’s unveiling.

One Twitter user commented:

“Kylie really made a Kylie Skin hand sanitiser… like? Let’s profit off a pandemic.”

Another added:

“Cashing in on a pandemic that has cost millions of lives. Shame on you all.”

Unusually, Jenner’s hand sanitiser releases a “soft mist” from a spray cap rather than squirting gel.

Jenner has previously been criticised for posting photos of herself at a friend’s house in LA while residents were urged to stay at home.

She was absent from Kim Kardashian’s controversial 40th birthday party, however, for which members of the Kardashian-Jenner family gathered on a private island last April.

Some of Jenner’s fans leapt to her defence when she released her hand sanitiser, pointing out that lots of brands have released similar products without the same levels of criticism.

But others were less complimentary.

Both Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have donated $1m towards coronavirus relief efforts.

But they are also both likely to profit from from pandemic-inspired products: Kardashian added a face mask to her clothing line in March.
