People are actually donating to a crowdfunding campaign to help Kylie Jenner become a billionaire

A few days ago it was reported that Kylie Jenner, of Keeping Up the Kardashians fame was on her way to becoming the youngest billionaire in the world.

Forbes announced this landmark earlier this week when they confirmed that thanks to her cosmetics brand, she now has a net worth of $900 million.

They also claimed she was a 'self-made' billionaire and got mercilessly mocked for it.

That tends to be the problem when the media starts praising a celebrity from a high-profile family for earning even more fame and fortune, just because of their bloodline.

Yet, the media and the general public are very different things and there's no way that anyone would be easily swayed by something that they've seen online and would be willing to give a Kardashian money for nothing.

Right...?

Sadly not.

Unbelievably a Go Fund Me campaign has been launched to help Jenner earn the extra $100 million that she needs to become a billionaire.

Seriously? What on Earth is going on?

According to VT, the campaign has been launched by a man named Josh Ostrovsky, also known as 'The Fat Jew.'

A statement on the campaign page reads:

Kylie Jenner was on the cover of Forbes Magazine today for having a net worth of 900 million dollars, which is heartbreaking.

I don't want to live in a world where Kylie Jenner doesn't have a billion dollars.

WE MUST RAISE 100 MILLION DOLLARS TO HELP HER GET TO A BILLION, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD, THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

He also shared it on his Instagram account.

Hmmm...something about this tells us that it's a joke, especially as Ostrovsky is something of a notorious Internet celebrity/troll, but somehow, someway, people are actually donating money.

At the time of writing, 90 people have donated $2,046 in just two days. There is still a long way to go before it reaches its $100m goal but the fact that it has even earned this mush is a little depressing.

Once word got around, Twitter users began to voice their disgust and pointed out more noteworthy campaigns that people should give their money to.

It's highly unlikely that this campaign will reach its astronomical goal and in that event, Ostrovsky has confirmed that he will give the money to those who actually need it.

Speaking to Page Six he said:

All money will be donated to something awesome, like a charity that feeds people who don’t have food.
