After a wave of Trump supporters stormed on the Capitol building to interrupt the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory, many people took to social media to share their feelings on the incident, including model and coder Karlie Kloss.

“Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic,” she wrote on Twitter. “Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American.”

Of course, Kloss’ tweet was in reference to the baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.

Kloss is an outspoken Democrat and voted for Biden in the presidential election, but she is also married to Josh Kushner, whose brother is Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner.

In a reply which is now not visible (the account has gone private), one Twitter user pointed out her affiliation with the Kushners and told her to “tell your brother and sister in law”.

The model gave a pretty succinct answer in response to the tweet: “I’ve tried.”

It’s not that we should rely on Kloss to change the minds of the Trumps, but to some, a two-word reply felt somewhat underwhelming.

Others came to her defence, arguing that there isn’t much she can do.

This isn’t the first time she has been called out for her association with Trump. On an episode of Project Runway (on which she is a judge), a contestant she criticised asked her if she would wear his dress to “dinner with the Kusners”.

Speaking on her relationship with Josh Kushner, she told Vogue that the couple shares "a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for”.
