Hugh Grant's sweary tweet about Boris Johnson has become the internet's favourite takedown

August 28, 2019 proved to be one of the most historic days in British political history as the Queen signed an order which will allow Boris Johnson to suspend parliament for five weeks effectively allowing the government to force through a no-deal Brexit.

Opposition MPs now just have a matter of days to try and prevent the country from falling off of a cliff face, while the rest of us look on through our fingers, hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

As you can imagine, practically everyone took to Twitter yesterday to vent their frustrations about what was going on in Westminster but few were quite as good as British actor Hugh Grant.

The star who famously played a prime minister in Love Actually responded to a video posted on Twitter by the prime minister, where the Tory leader tried to outline the reasons why he had sought a Queen's Speech.

58-year-old Grant was having any of this and responded with an explosive and sweary tweet that wouldn't have been out of place in the opening scene of Four Weddings and a Funeral.

We're almost too bashful to repeat what he said, so here is the tweet in all its glory.

In the past three years, we've seen many spectacular tweets about Brexit but few have summed up the state we are in quite like Grant's post and it has quickly become a viral hit that people can't get enough of it.
