Harry Styles fans are certain he is not-so-subtly mocking a prominent conservative Trump supporter, and can’t get enough of it.

On Wednesday, the singer-songwriter posted a photo to Instagram wearing blue ruffle-y ‘feminine’ suit, eating a banana. If the pic itself wasn’t sultry enough – it currently has more than 2 million likes – it was the caption that really had the internet relishing the post.

The caption read, “Bring back manly men” – seemingly a direct reference to a recent rebuke of Styles from conservative commentator Candace Owens.

Last month, Styles made history as the first ever male cover star of US Vogue. The pop star, known for shirking traditional gender norms, wowed admirers by wearing a dress in the photoshoot.

But unsurprisingly, some conservatives were not happy, chief among them was Owens.

In a tweet at the time, she wrote: "There is no society that can survive without strong men."

She continued: "There is no society that can survive without strong men. The East knows this. In the west, the steady feminization of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence. It’s an outright attack.”

“Harry Styles literally dragged the hell out of candace owens. i love it here!!” one person wrote. “And that Candace Owens, is how you make a statement,” another person tweeted.

If the former One Directioner was indeed mocking Owens – which seems very likely, even though she was far from the only conservative commentator that took issue with his Vogue shoot – he did so in a classic, cool, calm and collected way in a killer outfit.

But while one person on Twitter thought Styles’ post will “end Candace Owens career”, we have to imagine she and her supporters actually thrive off the conflict.
