Emmys 2018: 24 of the best memes and jokes from the ceremony

The biggest night in the world of television took place last night as the annual Emmy Awards took place.

The big winners of the evening were Game of Thrones, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Crown and The Americans.

Of course, who won what at awards ceremonies barely matters anymore. All anybody is interested in are the moments, the jokes and the memes.

We're happy to report that the Emmys didn't disappoint at all and there were a plethora of gifs and photos that delighted the internet.

Without further ado, here are some of the best from the evening.

First up is Chrissy Teigen trying to stay out of the spotlight.

Alex Borstein, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel became an instant hit for her epic and braless entrance and acceptance speech.

Amy Sherman-Palladino, the writer and creator of Mrs. Maisel got a lot of people talking because of her top hat.

Henry Winkler who won his first Emmy aged 72 for Best Supporting Actor in Barry, proved to be a lovely, heartwarming moment.

Even those nominees that didn't win became a meme.

Easily the best and happiest moment of the evening was when the winner of Outstanding Director for a Variety Special, Glenn Weiss got down on one knee and proposed to his partner Jan Svendsen, who said yes and provoked a lot of cheers and jubilation from those in attendance.
