It would appear that everyone has an opinion on the Netflix true-crime series Tiger King and the man at the centre of it all Joe Exotic, who is currently serving a 22-year sentence in federal prison.
Amongst the many charges held against Exotic is a failed murder-for-hire plot against the animal rights activist Carloe Baskin but even with this in mind, Donald Trump Jr would like to see the zoo owner released "just for the meme".
Appearing on SiriusXM’s The Jim and Sam Show the president's son joked:
Maybe not right now, but I can generally be for this just for the meme. And just for frankly watching the media reaction to this thing. It would be pretty amazing to ultimately see that.
This is kinda funny as it was just last week that Trump Jr shared a meme of his own father's face superimposed on to Exotic's head and admitting he didn't know who the infamous zoo owner was.
During the interview, Trump Jr added that he had now watched the show but still wasn't sure if Exotic was guilty or not and that his sentencing was "too aggressive."
Now, I don’t even know exactly what he was — I watched the show, but it’s like, I don’t know exactly what he was guilty of or wasn’t.
It doesn’t seem like he was totally innocent of anything but when they’re saying ‘we’re putting this guy away for 30 years,’ I’m saying that seems sort of aggressive.
Trump Jr is also asked about the conspiracy theory that Baskin, whose husband Don Lewis disappeared in 1997, murdered her other half and fed his body to tigers. (She strongly denies this). He said:
The way she spoke about things, whether it was how to get money or having the knowledge of how to get a tiger to possibly eat a human being with the sardine oil...I don't know guys.Â
But do you know what the real tragedy of that whole situation is? None of us knew until know that you could have had a pet tiger for two grand.
Trump Jr clearly didn't get the message of the show, that tigers shouldn't be kept in captivity by people who don't know how to look after them.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is now available to watch on Netflix.
