Britney Spears could consider a tell-all interview with Oprah, according to reports.
This speculation follows from The New York Times-produced documentary Framing Britney Spears that got the world talking about how female entertainers are treated.
An unnamed source told Entertainment Tonight: “Britney has considered speaking out about her past, mostly because she doesn’t feel others should tell her story.
“She’s always hated interviews but if she ever takes that step, Oprah would most likely be her first choice.”
Spears’ hesitancy towards interviews makes complete sense as, in the documentary, archive footage from previous interviews shows her being berated by journalists. Diane Sawyer berated her about her relationship with Justin Timberlake to the point of tears. Oprah has been lauded for her compassionate style, most recently displayed in her talk with Prince Harry and Meghan shook the world after teasing out sensitive topics such as racism and mental health.
The source continued: “At this point, there is no plan in the works for her to do an interview but when she does, there will be steps Britney would need take before speaking out.”
This might be in reference to the controversial conservatorship she has been under since the late noughties, following a battle to be released from her father Jamie Spears’ control and have authority granted to Jodi Montgomery, a professionally licensed conservator, who has done it before for Britney during Jamie’s stint of illness.
