The performers behind Blurred Lines are currently being sued by Marvin Gaye's children.
The lawsuit claims the controversial hit song is too similar to Gaye’s Got to Give It Up and infringes copyright, which Robin Thicke, T.I. and Pharrell Williams dispute.
In the course of the lawsuit, we have learnt just how much Blurred Lines earned: a staggering $16.6 million in profits (£10m) and more than $5 million (£3.2m) apiece for Thicke and Williams, according to a testimony offered to the trial.
The smash hit song has been widely criticised as sexist, due to its "rapey" lyrics such as "I know you want it" and video, which featured fully dressed male performers and topless female models. More than 20 UK universities banned the song, Thicke was voted Sexist of the Year in a 2013 poll by the End Violence Against Women Coalition and his follow-up album, Paula, flopped.
