You can now talk to your fridge, because technology

In what is an unbelievably proud moment in the history of human invention, we are proud to announce the news that you can now directly communicate with a varied array of kitchen appliances.

That's right. Thanks to the clever folk at LG, you can now ask your fridge how many eggs are left on the top shelf or tell your robot vacuum cleaner to switch itself off before you get home from the office, all via text message.

LG call their new technology HomeChat, and it's everything we've never wanted:

To add to the whole perplexity of the situation, the protagonist in the above promotional video would rather go home, drink beer and speak to his fridge than go out and celebrate New Year’s Eve with his girlfriend.

Is this what we have to look forward to?!
