Backlash after TikTok making fun of the Holocaust gets over half a million views

An offensive Tiktok video, appearing to make light of tattoos forced on Jewish people during the holocaust, is still up on the platform.

The video was posted by Bradley Booker earlier at the end of April, and has over 600,000 views. In the clip, a remix of the song 'No Scrubs', by TLC, is playing.

It shows a man getting into a taxi with the caption “Jewish guy getting in my taxi”, who then rolls up his sleeves to look at his arm, which has a number tattooed.

During World War Two, Jewish prisoners at concentration camps were forcibly tattooed with numbers in order to identify their bodies if they died.

The caption for the video also includes hashtags such as #viral, #justajoke, #darkhumor. In the comments, some people are defending him and asking why people are getting so offended, while others have said they complained to TikTok about the fact that the video is still up.

Bradley Booker spoke to The Jewish Chronicle and said:

If you read through the comments on the video there have been Jewish people finding the funny side to it.

It’s not me hating a religion – it’s just a joke.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism has written to the company that Brooker works for to lodge a complaint, as the video is still up and being viewed weeks later.

This is not the first time that the platform has been criticised for antisemitism on the platform – in April, two high school boys from Minnesota posted an offensive video which depicted them skipping into a concentration camp.
