Couples who want a threesome without the emotional complications and potential jealousy attached, are turning to sex robots.
The designs, which currently cost around $5,000 to $15,000, are getting more advanced by the day as the field develops.
It's probably something to do with the media fascination around the prospect of sex robots.
The sex robot revolution is foreseen in a documentary, released by expert Noel Sharkey, chairman of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics.
The expert of Robot Wars fame, said:
They do talk about using them for having a ménage à trois because it would be a safe way for couples to do that without involving someone else.
Sharkey called for a ban on sinister models which titillate rape fantasies or appear similar to children.
Countering the notion that these could help suppress actual sex crimes, the report concluded:
When we look at the question of whether or not sex robots could help to prevent sex crimes, there is major disagreement.
On one side there are those who believe that expressing disordered or criminal sexual desires with a sex robot would satiate them to the point where they would not have the desire to harm fellow humans.
On the other side, many others believe that this would be an indulgence that could encourage and reinforce illicit sexual practices.
This may work for a few but it is a very dangerous path to tread.
It may be that allowing people to live out their darkest fantasies with sex robots could have a pernicious effect on society and societal norms and create more danger for the vulnerable.
