Violinist Mia Matsumiya is a talented, consummate professional.
But of course, she's also a woman, so she can't have a career that isn't blighted by racist, fetishist, sexist trolls who follow her every move online.
After enduring ten years of sexual harassment online over various platforms, Mia's decided that enough is enough.
The 35-year-old has launched an Instagram account called 'Perv Magnet', documenting the disturbing comments and inbox messages she's been sent in an effort to call out the "stalkers, perverts and crazies" who think behaviour like this is OK:
Speaking to the Huffington Post, Mia said:
As the number of messages grew and grew and 10 years went by like this, that's when I began crawling out of my desensitisation and it hit me that no, this is not OK.
It had gotten to the point where someone would send the most scathing, racist, violent thing to me - like rape or death threats -- and I would barely have a reaction.
The violinist said that the response to her posts has been mostly positive, although trolls with no self-awareness are taking issue with the project.
Mia is encouraging other women to get involved with the project too.
"We’re all in this together and there’s power in numbers," she wrote in a post on Instagram.
