Facebook will remind adults in Britain to register to vote with a message in their newsfeeds on Thursday, as part of efforts to increase voter turnout in May's general election.
The message will link to the Gov.uk page where people can register online.
It is the first time the social network has carried such a reminder in Britain but the company has used similar messages for American and Indian voters.
Thursday is national voter registration day and the Electoral Commission want as many voters as possible to register before the deadline of 20 April.
Facebook has more than 35 million UK monthly users. Any British citizens aged 16 or over can register to vote online in five minutes here.
