Astonishingly, this very sweary paper was accepted by an academic journal

A paper titled 'Get me off your f--king mailing list' has been accepted for publication in an academic journal, according to the blog Scholarly Open Access.

The paper was originally written in 2005 by David Mazieres and Eddie Kohler to protest unwanted emails and was sent by Dr Peter Vamplew of Australia's Federation University to the International Journal of Advanced Computer Technology in response to spam conference invites.

Dr Vamplew was surprised to find a response from the journal saying the paper had been accepted, with an anonymous peer reviewer rating it as "excellent", Scholarly Open Access report.

The blog publishes the full acceptance email from International Journal of Advanced Computer Technology which can be viewed in full here. The email asks for a payment of $150 dollars and reminds the author not to submit the paper anywhere else.

'Get me off your f--king mailing list' is more than 6,000 words long and only compromises the phrase 'get me off your f--king mailing list', although it does contain two diagrams and two references. You can read it in full here.

As Vox note, the incident, while funny, is a sign of a problem of online only journals publishing scientists' work without a full peer review. i100.co.uk has contacted the International Journal of Advanced Computer Technology for a full statement.
