Republicans are furious about a claim that president Joe Biden’s climate plan includes cutting 90 per cent of red meats from Americans’ diet by 2030... but this is not true.

Biden announced that his administration would seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030.

The Daily Mail reported on this news and began to speculate on what other policies “could” also be implemented to reach this goal. One of them being “How Biden’s climate plan could limit you to eat just one burger a MONTH.”

At no point in this speech did Biden announce any initiative to impose a limit on red meat consumption and Biden has never suggested policies aimed at limiting red meat consumption.

Though, of course, Republicans seized the opportunity to criticise president Biden for these baseless claims.

Republican representative, Lauren Boebert wrote: “Joe Biden’s climate plan includes cutting 90 per cent of red meat consumption from our diet by 2030. They want to limit us to about four pounds a year. Why doesn’t Joe stay out of my kitchen?”

Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott wrote: “Not gonna happen in Texas!”

He also included an image from Fox News titled, “Up In Your Grill: Biden’s Climate Requirements” that also falsely claims Americans will only be entitled to 4lbs of red meat per year, one burger per month and the 90 per cent cut in red meat consumption claim.

In an interview with Fox Business on April 23, former White House economic adviser to Donald Trump Larry Kudlow said: “To meet the Biden Green New Deal targets, America has to – get this – America has to stop eating meat.”

Other Republicans responded on social media with images of them consuming red meat in an unneeded display of protest for something that isn’t actually happening.

Though others we able to see the funny side to this odd display.

Comedian, Milo Edwards wrote in response: “having the absolute worst sh*ts imaginable to own the libs.”

Well, there you have it - you can still have more than one burger per month.
