Laurence Fox has put his money where his mouth is.
Despite failing to become London mayor, losing his deposit and even polling behind a YouTuber, the controversial former actor turned politician has shown that he fancies his chances at reaching even higher office and appears to be betting that he will become the next prime minister.
Writing on Twitter, he shared a screenshot of an odds website showing he had put £1 on him becoming the next PM, with odds of 500/1.

Whether he completed the transaction is unclear but if he did, this means that - if for some reason his bet pays off - he will win £500 as well as premiership of the country.
“It is time for Lozza to be Prime Minister,” he proclaimed - optimistically.

His campaign ‘launch’ comes after Fox has slightly faded into obscurity - spending time after his failed mayoral campaign complaining about vaccines, footballers taking the knee and anything else to provoke tired culture wars.
All good qualities for political greatness, then (not). But responding to him, people thought his pound would have been better spent elsewhere:
@LozzaFox Yeah just what we need as PM another out of touch privately educated man. . Why not, its worked out so well in the past..— Steve (@Steve) 1635644343

Others reminded him that he had already stood for election and it hadn’t gone well:
@LozzaFox You can't even keep your deposit in the London mayoral election.— Carlos G1VIF (@Carlos G1VIF) 1635636633
Meanwhile, Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Laurence Fox might fancy his chances of replacing Boris, but the latest betting figures tell a different story... in fact no one has backed him to be the next PM with Ladbrokes since November 2020.”
Ah Lozza. Triumph of hope over experience in action.
