NYC mayor has turned into the ‘how do you do, fellow kids’ meme

The mayor of New York City has turned himself into a complete and utter meme.

Bill de Blasio appeared at City Hall dressed in basketball team Brooklyn Nets uniform to thank them for letting their base be used as a vaccination centre. But he may not have realised just how silly he looked:

For the uninitiated, the ‘how do you do fellow kids’ meme is taken from a 30 Rock scene in which Steve Buscemi wears a T-shirt reading “Music Band” and a backwards baseball cap, imagining that he is passing as a teenager:

Clearly, there is an uncanny resemblance between Buscemi and de Blasio in the photo, and people were thoroughly unimpressed by his attire:

Speaking at a press conference, he said: “The biggest victory for the Nets is yet to come. The Nets are stepping up for Brooklyn, for the whole city of New York. The Nets are now going to be joining the battle against Covid with a mobile vaccination site right outside Barclays Centre”.

De Blasio clearly finds press conferences boring. Last week he ate fries throughout one to illustrate that Shake Shack are giving away fries to anyone who gets the vaccine:

Sadly, this photo opportunity was not the biggest victory for de Blasio. We are just glad the vaccinations are going well.
