A west-Yorkshire man called 999 demanding the police arrest his girlfriend's cat for eating his bacon.
In the one-and-a-half-minute clip, released to highlight time-wasting calls to the emergency services, the man can be heard saying "I want to press charges".
The 999 operator asks if he wants to prosecute his girlfriend or the cat and he insists "both of them". He is then told by the operator that his problem is not an emergency or a police matter. "We don't arrest cats," she says.
In another incident highlighted by police, a man called 999 at 2am to ask who the actor was that played Magnum PI (the answer, by the way, is Tom Selleck) and someone else called to ask what the number was for non-emergencies.
Tom Donahoe, who heads-up the 999 call centre for West Yorkshire police, told the Yorkshire Evening Telegraph: "It was driving him mad, he was with his friends and couldn’t think of the answer, so he rang the police.”
