At least 120 people are dead after a series of gun and bomb terror attacks in Paris left France and the world in shock.

French president Francois Hollande declared the attacks "a horror" as a state of emergency and a closure of the country's borders were announced.

In solidarity with the City of Light, monuments and buildings around the world have illuminated themselves in the colours of the French Tricolore.
