Woman tries to steal police car, gets arrested by officers still inside it

An American woman has been arrested after trying to steal a police car - with two police officers inside it.

Ria Buford, 32, was reportedly inebriated when she tried to get into the driver's seat of the unmarked car in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the early hours of Saturday morning. She is said to have told the two plain-clothes officers in the back that she wanted to drive their car to where she had left her vehicle earlier - but the officers intervened before she managed to move the vehicle.

A police report cited by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said she had "an overwhelming odor [sic] of alcoholic beverage emanating from her person". Burford was charged with robbery and public drunkenness and will face a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
