A poll by Ipsos for Avaaz of 13- and 14-year-olds in the US showed 94 per cent agree climate change is real, and 85 per cent agree human activity is it major cause.
In stark contrast, fewer than ten per cent of Republican senators voted in favour of a recent amendment stating "climate change is real and human activity significantly contributes to climate change".
Senator Jim Inhofe, the chairman of the Senate Environment Committee, is arguably the most high-profile climate change sceptic on Capitol Hill, and to illustrate his argument he recently brought a snowball into the Senate chamber.
