Which region of England has the biggest problem with alcohol?

Alcohol-related health problems affect thousands of families and individuals across the country and cost the NHS an estimated £3.5bn a year.

As this map from Statista shows, Kent has been found to be the local authority with most drink-related deaths in England.

Using data from Alcohol Concern, the graphic also shows that seven of the ten worst areas are in the south and east of the country.

Further analysis of the data shows that in 2012-13, there were 9.9m alcohol-related admissions to hospital in England, with London (1.2m) having the most, shortly followed by the North West (990k).
