What the rest of the world thinks about the world's powers, in 8 maps

Pollster Gallup says it invented the approval rating system of US presidents 70 years ago, and now it has applied the same principle to countries themselves.

A poll of 135 countries reveals not just what the rest of the world thinks about US leadership on the world stage, but also the leadership offered by the EU, Germany, Russia and China.

You can see the overall approval ratings below, followed by maps showing which countries approve or disapprove of the US, the EU, Russia and China (Germany is not modelled) the most.

All but two of the countries that approve of the US the most are in Africa.
