Whoever said physics can’t be beautiful?
It turns out the Earth and Venus together trace this amazing spirograph pattern as they orbit the Sun.
This diagram below, uploaded by a Reddit user, is known as the Pentagram of Venus, because of the five “lobes” the two planets create together.

As eight Earth years are roughly equal to 13 Venus years, the five years in between cause the five lobes to appear.
Earth and Venus are unique among the eight planets of our solar system in orbiting the Sun in an almost perfect ratio. Other planets would not be able to create a pattern anything like this one.
