Although Ukip's Nigel Farage dubbed the European election result a 'political earthquake', the sheer amount of non-voters should serve to highlight the high level of apathy in Britain.
Ukip will feel a huge amount of satisfaction after claiming 27.5 per cent of votes cast, but it should also be noted that over 90 per cent of the eligible electorate did not vote for the right-wing party (and the same, of course, goes for all the other parties).
