Luckily, police were on hand to safely rush the woman into a van, ensuring the situation did not turn ugly and no one got hurt.

While police acted swiftly, people claimed that protesters had tried to protect the two people demonstrating in support of the police.

Protests have taken place in Ferguson, a mainly black suburb of St Louis, Missouri, since unarmed black teenager Michael Brown was shot six times by police officer Darren Wilson on August 9.

Officer Wilson has not been arrested, but suspended on full pay. An online campaign to raise funds for him and his family has now attracted donations of more than $110,000.
