Michael Caine today waded into the Brexit furore by declaring the referendum result a vote for “freedom,” dismissing the idea that racism played any part in the Leave campaign.
The Oscar-winning actor also insisted that everything would turn out “alright” after Britain’s two-year window for exiting the EU was up.
In an interview with Sky News, The Italian Job star admitted he would rather be “a poor master” than a “rich servant”.
Of course, the irony of his remarks was not lost on Twitter users.
