Controversial anchor Tucker Carlson has faced yet another backlash, after he revealed that he will be presenting two new shows on Fox News Media’s streaming service, Fox Nation.
Carlson will lead a video podcast, as well as a long-form documentary series titled Tucker Carlson Originals, in a new deal announced by the broadcaster.
In a press release, Jason Klarman, Fox Nation president, said the “exclusive” content from Carlson will make the service a “must-have” for the host’s “most passionate fans.
Carlson said: “This is my twelfth year at Fox News and I’ve never been more grateful to be here. As other media outlets fall silent or fall in line, Fox News Media’s management has redoubled its commitment to honesty and freedom of speech.
“I consider that heroic at a time like this.”
His comments echo remarks made last week, when the host said the broadcaster was the “most significant hurdle” to stopping everyone “[singing] from the same song sheet”.
Speaking at the start of his show last Thursday, Carlson said: “At this point, there’s everyone else in the media standing in crisp formation, in their starch matching uniforms with their little caps, patiently waiting orders from the billionaire class.
“Then there’s Fox News, off by itself, occasionally saying things that are slightly different from everyone else.”
People were quick to condemn the host’s promotion on Twitter:
Meanwhile others hoped the announcement was actually about Carlson being fired from the channel:
Three video podcasts from Carlson will be published each week, starting in April, with Tucker Carlson Originals also beginning in the same month.
