The British socialite and ex-girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty on five of the six counts she faced including the sexual trafficking of young girls.
The 60-year-old is now facing the prospect of spending the rest of her life in prison but her reaction was noticeably stoic and reserved when she heard the verdict.
Maxwell and Epstein’s lifestyle in the New York and Florida social scene in the late ‘90s and early 2000s meant that they crossed paths with many famous faces including former president Donald Trump.
In the wake of the guilty verdict for Maxwell, Trump’s comments about her from July 2020, during a White House press briefing have resurfaced.

When asked if he thought Maxwell would turn in ‘powerful men’ by a reporter Trump claimed that he hadn’t been following the story “too much” and added: “I just wish her well frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach but I wish her well.”
This quote from Trump was widely shared on Wednesday after Maxwell was found guilty.
Trump was also asked about Maxwell during an interview with Jonathan Swan of Axios in August 2020 where he said: “Yeah, I wish her well. I’d wish you well. I’d wish a lot of people well. Good luck. Let them prove somebody was guilty.”
Trump has so far remained silent on the verdict and instead spent Wednesday publishing statements attacking the congressional investigation of the 6 January riot at the US Capitol and criticising Joe Biden.
Indy100 has contacted Mr Trump for comment.
