Donald Trump has said that he doesn’t think his wife Melania would cry if he got shot.

The US president recently spoke at a Republicans fundraising event, where, according to Politico, he let rip a sleuth of “unscripted, unfiltered” statements including his meeting with Nancy Pelocy, who he called “nasty Nancy” as welll as talking about Chuck Schumer, who he referred to as a "lap dog."

The US president reportedly spoke for an hour to lawmakers and other members of the crowd.

During one strange moment the president talked about the shooting of House Minority Whip Steve Scalise a few years ago.

He joked that getting shot wasn’t a viable weight loss plan.

Trump then remarked on Scalise’s wife “crying” at the hospital – and quipped that Melania would never do the same.

[Scalise’s wife] cried her eyes out when I met her at the hospital that fateful day … I mean not many wives would react that way to tragedy, I know mine wouldn't.”

The quote made its way online
