Donald Trump Jr's girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle has tested positive for coronavirus and we can't say that we didn't see it coming.

The 51-year-old who works as part of the president's re-election campaign was given her diagnosis prior to Trump's Fourth of July event at Mount Rushmore on Saturday.

Sergio Gor, chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee said in a statement:

After testing positive, Kimberly was immediately isolated to limit any exposure. She's doing well, and will be retested to ensure the diagnosis is correct since she's asymptomatic but as a precaution will cancel all upcoming events. Donald Trump Jr was tested negative, but as a precaution is also self isolating and is cancelling all public events.

A campaign source close to CNNreported that Guilfoyle has had no recent direct contact with the president but was in attendance at his controversial rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma two weeks ago, and a smaller event in Phoenix, Arizona. Neither Trump or Trump Jr has tested positive for coronavirus so far.

As Guilfoyle now goes into self-isolation and attempts to overcome the virus, her tweets from just a few weeks ago where she champions the reopening of the United States, despite confirmed cases still soaring, now look very naive and ill-advised. After she was confirmed as having Covid-19, Guilfoyle's tweets began to be shared having aged terribly in just a matter of weeks.

Just two days before she tested positive she had also lamented so-called 'leftwing mayors' such as New York's Bill DeBlasio and Los Angeles' Eric Garcetti for 'failing their cities and states at every turn' during the pandemic. She has since thanked people for sending her well-wishes and looks forward to a speedy recovery and helping Trump on his re-election campaign.

To make matters worse, Donald Trump Jr shared a picture of his other half on Instagram and added that he is "looking forward to waiting on her hand and foot."

We understand the sentiment from Trump Jr but unless he is clad from head to toe in PPE and Guilfoyle is in full isolation then he probably shouldn't be waiting 'hand and foot' on someone with a highly contagious novel disease than can be transmitted if you get too close to someone that has been infected.
