Donald Trump Jr has made a ridiculous claim about George Floyd’s mural and is being mercilessly mocked accordingly.

After the mural in Ohio depicting Floyd was struck by lighting, causing bricks to be blown out, the former President’s son suggested that a “higher power” rather than “weather” was behind it and added that he was a builder and had never heard of something like it happening before.

He said:

The mural, which was painted last July by artist David Ross to commemorate Floyd, was destroyed during a huge storm. Initially, people were concerned that it has been vandalised but that it was struck by lightning was corroborated by several witnesses, according to CNN. Authorities in the area have said they intend to rebuild it in a new location and there is no evidence to suggest a “higher power” had anything to do with it.

Meanwhile, people are raising their eyebrows at Trump’s assertion that he is a “builder” given his career has involved working for his father’s companies. He has supervised building projects, but people are skeptical about whether he actually got his hands dirty himself.

Here’s a taste of the reaction:

It might be time for the whole Trump family to have a break from Twitter.
