People are calling for Donald Trump’s impeachment after a report suggested that he used military expenditure to prop up his golf resort.

Politico reported yesterday that Congress’ House Oversight Committee has been investigating why a military crew made an unusual stay at Trump’s expensive Turnberry resort in Scotland.

So far, they haven’t received any answer from the Pentagon…

The inquiry is part of a wider investigation into US military expenditure at or around the Trump property.

The suggestion is that Trump may be using the military to help keep his resort afloat after it lost $4.5m in 2017.

A senior Democratic aide told Politico:

The Defence Department has not produced a single document in this investigation.

The committee will be forced to consider alternative steps if the Pentagon does not begin complying voluntarily in the coming days.

Natasha Bertrand, the journalist who broke the story, said one crew member was apparently surprised by the choice of hotel because food and drinks were too expensive for their daily allowance.

The report has left some members of Congress - such as Democratic representative Ted Lieu - calling for answers.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went further, by saying the revelation meant Trump should be impeached.

And she wasn't the only one calling for Trump's impeachment over the report.

The Pentagon, Air Force and White House did not respond to Politico’s request for comment before publication.
