After Democratic candidate Kirsten Gillibrand dropped out of the primary yesterday, the president followed up with a sarcastic tweet, saying she was "the one I was really afraid of".

Many pointed out that given his murky affairs, Trump has a lot to be afraid of as well as the Democratic nomination - whoever it may be.

Others doubted the apparent spontaneity of the tweet.

Senator Gillibrand was not a frontrunner among the Democrats, which is perhaps what the was alluding to.

However, she does have the most anti-Trump voting record of any senator.
