With America’s political climate deteriorating with every passing day, the news cycle is looking increasingly bleak.
With allegations of sexual assault threatening to derail Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination and #MeToo being engulfed by bitter partisanship, political discourse is becoming steadily less respectful.
But there’s one person who certainly isn’t helping matters – the president of the United States.
Trump’s latest blunder saw him stoop further into moral depravity by appearing to mock Dr Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assaulting her 30 years ago.
The president made fun of Dr Ford’s inability to remember some details about what happened.
Impersonating her in front of a baying crowd, Trump said:
I don’t know. I don’t know. Upstairs? Downstairs? Where was it? I don’t know. But I had one beer. That’s the only thing I remember
Trump later went on to say that the #MeToo movement has unfairly hurt men. Yes, really.
As expected, when questioned about Trump’s mockery of Dr Ford, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that “the president was stating the facts”.
This led to one of the most ridiculous headlines of the year, from CNN, which seems to perfectly encapsulate how messed up America is right now. It reads:
White House Denies Trump Was Mocking Kavanaugh Accuser After Trump Mocks Kavanaugh Accuser

Now that’s one for the history books.
As protests continue across the US, Kavnaugh’s confirmation is looking ever more likely, with a vote due to take place this weekend.
