Did you know that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican? Well according to Trump, you probably didn’t.
That’s because “nobody ever heard” of the former president being a Republican until Trump “came along”.
Speaking in front of reporters at the Iglesia Doral Jesus Worship Center in Florida on Friday, Trump claimed:
The Republican Party has grown incredibly from where it was and we have a whole different group of people in the Republican Party. People don’t remember... nobody ever heard of it until I came along, nobody remembered it for a long time or they didn’t use it at least, I use it all the time – Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.
You say that and people say ‘I didn’t know that’ but he was a Republican.

Abraham Lincoln was POTUS from 1861 to 1865 until his untimely death at the hands of John Wilkes Booth, who shot and killed him outside Ford's Theater in Washington, DC.
During his presidency, Lincoln oversaw the American civil war and famously issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared the freeing of slaves within the Confederacy in 1863.
Perhaps Donald Trump would like to tell us all about this too, as if it’s some big revelation?
