Tory MP Tracey Crouch ‘to max out on life’ after completing radiotherapy

Conservative MP Tracey Crouch has said she intends to “max out on life” as she celebrates having her last radiotherapy treatment.

Ms Crouch announced in June last year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, adding that the illness had been “caught early”.

After promising to face the challenge “with my studs up”, the former sports minister has since kept people informed of her progress on social media, sharing updates on treatment as well as light-hearted comments about her newly-shaved head.

But in her latest post on Tuesday, Ms Crouch wrote: “Ding ding ding…had my last radiotherapy and I’m all done.”

“A massive thank you to the incredible team at (Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust) & my family/friends for their support throughout,” the MP for Chatham and Aylesford in Kent tweeted.

“Early diagnosis = better outcomes so check your bits & bobbins & see a GP if your worried. Off now to max out on life”.

Ms Crouch, 45, shared a photo of herself outside the oncology centre in Maidstone shaking an emoji bell in celebration.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock replied: “Huge congratulations, Tracey. Absolutely delighted for you.”

Ms Crouch became the first Tory minister to take maternity leave in her former frontbench role.

She resigned from her position as sports minister over the “unjustifiable” delay to a crackdown on maximum stakes for fixed-odds betting machines.
