From gentle stretching while wearing high heels in the 1910s, through to the noughties craze of Zumba, this video (below) charts exercise trends over the past century.
The 100 years of fitness in 100 seconds video was put together by Benenden Health, which was founded back in 1905 to offer affordable treatment to postal workers suffering from tuberculosis.
Back then, perspiration was seen as "unfeminine", according to Benenden, so women were expected to do exercise that had little risk of causing sweating.
However, things soon improved, and exercise regimes became a little more strenuous as the decades passed.
