This incredible picture of Trump surrounded by G7 leaders is basically 2018 in a photo

They say a picture is worth a thousand words - and if this incredible photograph is anything to go by, that seems to be the case.

This year's G7 summit was always billed to be a tense one, as leaders of the seven most advanced economies in the world met in Canada to tackle protectionism and trade barriers.

It's a bit of an understatement to say that President Trump has ruffled some feathers of late.

During the summit, he angered other members with his refusal to back down on trade tariffs, the request to reinstate Russia, and finally, the fact he left two days early to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong-Un.

It's hardly surprising, then, that in light of the tense negotiations, Angela Merkel's team took to Instagram to post this photo.

Next to the picture was the caption:

Day two of the G7 summit in Canada: spontaneous meeting between two working sessions.

Wow. Look at that body language!

Some Twitter users were quick to point out how the photograph looked like a classic work of art.

Others noted that other photographers captured the same moment in VERY different ways (fake news, anyone!?).

While some were impressed by Merkel's dominant body language.

Others noted how the image could be interpreted as a naughty little boy being told off.

Whatever your interpretation, there's no doubt that the image perfectly captures the mood of 2018.
