Boris Johnson shocked Westminster and the world this morning when he announced he would not be standing for Tory leader.

Following news of Michael Gove's surprise candidacy (having denied having any ambition of this for months) on Thursday morning, Boris soon announced at his leadership campaign launch that, indeed, he would be standing to lead the Conservative party.

However, what may be the worst detail of the whole tawdry affair has been tweeted by ITV News' deputy political editor Chris Ship:
