This man is back in government, but his former cleaner is getting deported

The Colombian cleaner who worked for Tory minister Mark Harper for seven years is set to be deported imminently, according to politics.co.uk.

Isabella Acevedo, 47, was arrested at her daughter's wedding in Haringey town hall two weeks ago and detained at Yarl's Wood, pending removal from the country.

Her former employer Mr Harper quit as immigration minister in February after it emerged she no longer had permission to work in the UK. But months later he was made minister for disabled people by David Cameron in his July cabinet reshuffle.

This morning politics.co.uk editor Ian Dunt reported Ms Acevedo had been taken from her room by immigration officers shortly after midnight, when she was still in her night clothes, and is not contactable by phone.

It's possible she's being prepped for the 6.20am flight to Madrid, with a connecting flight to Bogota. Or perhaps she's being put in short-term accommodation, which means she would lose access to her phone.

Earlier this week Ms Acevedo told the Guardian she had been arrested before she got the chance to see her daughter in her wedding dress.

I saw Mr Harper on TV. He is still with his rich friends, still earning good money. Me, I have lost everything: my job is gone, my friends are gone, my dignity is gone. In one day my whole life has changed.

A Home Office spokesperson told i100: "We do not routinely comment on individual cases.”
