This is Britain's favourite bird

Ornithologist David Lindo is leading a campaign to choose a national bird for Britain.

It might not seem like a massively pressing issue, but when you think how America has the bald eagle, France has the rooster, and India the peacock, the UK is frankly being embarrassed by its lack of official avian representation on the world stage.

Britons have until May 7 - coincidentally the day of the general election - to choose their favourite from a shortlist of 10, with the results then being passed on to the Queen and new prime minister, no less.

Jumping the gun slightly, pollster YouGov conducted its own research based, and found there was an overwhelming favourite.
