A cafe in Stockport, has used a negative review on TripAdvisor to its advantage, by using it as a selling point.
The Nook Neighbourhood Coffee café received the negative 1-star review on the website over a bowl of porridge which was criticised as "undercooked" despite being sent back to the kitchen.
The complaint was addressed on the website...
...and also on a board outside the café, where the review was positively celebrated.
The board was posted to Instagram by a comedian, and then was the subject of a high ranking thread on Reddit.
Aldo Calderbank, the manager, told the Manchester Evening News:
The idea was just to try and do something a bit different.
The lady's comment was quite disappointing because we try to provide the best service at all times. Seeing the comment pop up on TripAdvisor was a bit of a shame.
The café does seem to have a track record of excellent signage.
Other hits inspired by negative review include:
Free cake, unlimited refills, false advertising!
...and...
The finest (undercooked) porridge in town.
Top work.
