While drones are creeping into many aspects of modern life, they are also revolutionising photography.
These beautiful shots taken for this year's National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest show landscapes from angles that would have been impossible to capture before aerial photography started to - pardon the pun - take off.
The contest, now in its 27th year, is open to both amateur and professional photographers. All you need is a good eye and a sense of adventure.
Official categories include Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place and Spontaneous Moments, and the first prize is an eight-day photography expedition to Costa Rica and the Panama Canal.
The contest is open until 30th June.
