These are apparently the worst tourists in the world

If there's one thing Brits are good at, it's behaving badly abroad. But we can't even do that anymore as Americans apparently make the worst tourists.

A survey of 9,500 people found Americans were much more likely to admit to bad habits while abroad.

Admits to peeing in the pool:

Americans (64 per cent)

Canadians (58 per cent)

Brits (46 per cent)

Germans (44 per cent)

Chinese (41 per cent)

Admits to taking hotel toiletries or towels:

Americans (69 per cent)

Canadians (61 per cent)

Chinese (61 per cent)

Brits (45 per cent)

Germans (20 per cent)

Admits to doing holiday research while at work:

Chinese (70 per cent)

Americans (67 per cent)

Canadians (64 per cent)

Brits (40 per cent)

Germans (38 per cent)

Admits to calling in sick to extend a holiday by one day:

Americans (24 per cent)

Canadians (16 per cent)

Chinese (16 per cent)

Brits (15 per cent)

Germans (10 per cent)

Admits to going to a tanning salon after a holiday:

Germans (seven per cent)

Brits (four per cent)

Americans (four per cent)

Canadians (four per cent)

Chinese (two per cent)

Admits to cheating on their partner on holiday:

Germans (10 per cent)

Chinese (five per cent)

Brits (four per cent)

Americans (three per cent)

Canadians (two per cent)

Gabe Saglie, senior editor of Travelzoo, which compiled the research, said: "Some of these habits are not acceptable."
