Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham, along with the wider North East of England region, have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the country.
Data compiled by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) sees 30.2 conceptions per 1,000 women aged 15-17 in the North East, closely followed by 26.8 in the North West.
South-western areas like Bristol, Devon and Cornwall see lower rates at 18.8 conceptions per 1,000 teenagers, while London ranks in the middle, with 21.5.
The *Financial Times* reports that teenage pregnancy rates in the UK are at their lowest yet, and middle-aged pregnancies are on the rise:
The rate of conceptions for under-18s in 2014 was at its lowest since 1969, at 22.9 conceptions per 1,000 women aged 15 to 17.
