Donald Trump is the President-elect of the United States of America.
People are unsure about how to react to the news.
Responses range from shocked and appalled
To celebratory
And very, very confused.
Early projections about the global effects of his presidency look grim: experts expect a rise in hate crimes against Muslims; geopolitical instability that could lead to war, and an economic downturn which could be detrimental to the global economy.
However all is not doom and gloom for Britons across the pond.
The pound jumped against the dollar following news of Trump’s victory (or rather the dollar plummeted).
But there’s something even greater that British people have gained.
Something intangible, that will nevertheless fill us all with joy.
Twitter user Brian Pedaci sums it up pretty perfectly:
We no longer hold the unfortunate title of 'dumbest country in the world', according to thousands of people who retweeted Mr Pedaci.
That is one, tinysilver lining.
Thank you, America.
